JoAnn Kuchera-Morin demos the AlloSphere, a new way to see, hear and interpret scientific data. Dive into the brain, feel electron spin, hear the music of the elements … and detect previously unseen patterns that could lead to new discoveries.

Evan Grant demonstrates the science and art of cymatics, a process for making soundwaves visible. Useful for analyzing complex sounds (like dolphin calls), it also makes complex and beautiful designs.

AS A WHOLE; A PRIORI MYSTERY by PERPETEIA

This piece of music was improvised in a single session by Perpeteia, the free-form music collaboration of artist Travis Wyche and filmmaker Curtis Tamm. It was provided to a group of 10 individuals on the first round of proposals as a sonic accompaniment to the texts and images and was intended to function simultaneously as a work-in-progress example of NOTACHOREOGRAPHIC concerns as well as an offering to those that may wish to manipulate the piece, collaborate in it’s completion, or use it as reference in the creation of a supplemental form of notation (musical, movement-based, or otherwise).

These books were found at the School of the Art Institute’s library, or else are in the private collection of Travis Wyche. They are currently being used for research on the subject of a unified notational methodology and are provided here as catalysts of interest and points of entry for others wishing to participate in this project. Any contributions or recommendations for further reading and research would be very much appreciated and can be send to Travis.Wyche@gmail.com
